Very Important Buildings
After learning about architecture, fourth graders took on the challenge to design their own very important building. In their building designs, students incorporated elements of architecture they were introduced to as well as use their own creative inventions to suggest the purpose of their buildings. This project was also an opportunity for students to learn about symmetry and contour lines.

One Point Perspective Rooms
Students explored the use of one-point perspective techniques to create a room. After using a vanishing point and vanishing lines to create a walls, a ceiling and floor, students then decided what type of room they were creating: a living room, a dream bedroom, a candy shop, pet store or even an indoor batting cage. Students then added windows, doors, floors and carpets using their newly learned perspective techniques that suggested the type of rooms they were making. Lastly, students used their imaginations to do a bit of interior decorating using their knowledge of proportion to add in collaged pieces of furniture and other décor as well as a people and animals.
