I began my teaching carreer in Winthrop in 1972. I was a full time Social Studies teacher at Winthrop Junior High School (when it existed) and then at the High School. I taught 35 years as a full time teacher, teaching World Cultures, World History, and United States History classes. I retired in 2007, but was asked to teach an elective I developed called the Viking Longships Project. So I have been fortunate enough to have been working part time with students in the Viking Longships Project for the last 14 years. I grew up in Winthrop and went to Winthrop Junior High and Winthrop High School, graduating in 1968. I attended and graduated from Boston State College in 1972.
